I've had very little luck with consignment. The stores in which my stuff have sold haven't apparently sold very much else, as they closed in a short period of time, and I've had two close up without notice without contacting me, disappearing with my stuff. One of them resurfaced a few years later, running into me when I was selling at the Fremont market, and she "settled up" with me, not for as much as I had in her store, but covering costs. The other, never heard a word. And both of them made me fill out a consignment ocntract with my name/address/#, etc. Luckily, with those two, it wasn't anything expensive, several $10-$20 pieces of glassware.
I've made the attempt with several other folks, a couple who advertised off the SG Board, but they flaked on me and could never manage to set up a time to view my pieces and make arrangements, which is not confidence-inspiring in a business sense.
So, it's left me reluctant to let my pieces out of my direct control. If I could find a place that would be willing to actually buy from me, I'd be all over it, but in today's economy, chances for that are slim to none.
